A new rising face of open source Operating System : Ubuntu (10.10) and Ubuntu Lucid Lynx Version

Ubuntu , an open source OS in the kingdom of free linux distribution software services which is now a days improving a lot in a series by series with its indomitable performance in the desktop as well as in the server editions also. Ubuntu is a fork of the Debian projects code base. The original aim of Ubuntu is to release a new version with in a span of six months which they kept in an unspeakable way. The first release of Ubuntu was in 20th October, 2004 sponsored by Canonical ltd. And licensed by General Public License (GNU GPL) The Ubuntu versions use Debian’s unstable software packages and they have to rebuild the whole package from the source code to get the usable code for Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is the first and only one which I see in my computer career best and better than the best one . There are other OS also of Linux distribution like: Fedora (12),Knoppix, Centos OS, Mandriva, openSUSE ,free BSD, Red Hat OS and many more. But within them Ubuntu is faster, less time consumer and also light weight OS. Ubuntu latest versions I know about so in those versions I want to let you know that 8.10 version was good for beginners who are new to the open source OS. Fedora in that case is not a bad option but if one wants configure Fedora for connecting network then one must re think about that piece. If one goes into the deep of Open Source Os then Fedora 5 is the best one for that. Anyway way back to Ubuntu 8.10, which has got a very good and simple configuration option for users? But my advice to those who uses Ubuntu 8.10,don’t update your OS to Ubuntu 9.10 or higher, it gets you nothing but the only a ambiguous Kernel side by side that is 1.Kernel version 2.6.27 and kernel Version 2.6.29.(whose compressed version is used in Android OS).
Any way apart from that Ubuntu 8.10h has got a very bad version of media Player which is not able to play any kind of movie or Songs which has a format of .mp3 or.avi. So you need to do all that you have to download a new media player version of Pulse Media Player.

After that version as a promise Ubuntu adds a new title to its title bar i.e. ubuntu 9.04 and within six months Ubuntu 9.10 which was released on 23rd April, 2009 and 29th October, 2009 respectively. Now in these version it updates nothing special but the loading page or in easy word you can say it as GUI is a bit impressive and from that time it not openly but somewhere people liked it and often I found many users of Ubuntu 9.04 and9.10 versions. and it starts a not a so called competition but something like that has began between windows xp and Ubuntu 9.10.Although they are just poles apart still they make sense out of this release.

Now the war starts with today’s Microsoft dominated domains and computers. People are getting attracted as Ubuntu kept its punctuality according to time. And keeping this pace Ubuntu released that version which may be we people looking for i.e. Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx and Ubuntu 10.10.with this amazing and breathtaking release of the most wanted services that we want to get in an OS just like the Microsoft Giant’s way. Now Ubuntu Community has almost 60,000 users and 70,000 users in Ubuntuforum.com, 65,000 users in ubuntugeek.com and all is increasing worldwide. The developers and the users also. It has a Splendid GUI (Graphic User Interface) which is first noticed by a user when it starts installing this OS. I didn’t try it yet but I have ordered a CD of Lucid Lynx.

Now let’s take a small look what drastic change Ubuntu 10.04 has made to its version which has almost more than enough in an amazing way.
It has got:

1. Browse the web with the most recent version of a successful browser Mozilla firefox.

2. Create document, presentations, and all necessary business papers which can be saved in more than 4 format (Compatible with windows Microsoft office .doc format)

3. Now Ubuntu has a new one in its cloud that is free software centre, so guys just forget about searching the internet to get a software compatible with Ubuntu versions. it has all the packages under one roof.

4. Featured Applications like GIMP means the advanced image editing for graphic designers, photographs or simply for retouching your pictures. Software available for that is : jokosher and Stellarum(3 D planetarium for your computer)

5. It has got new versions of chatting services which needs your one click.Softwares are : empathy IM and evolution Mail etc.

6. One brand new innovation is done to this version is “Me menu” which gives you the privilege to update your social networking site straight away, connect to your chat channels and make updates in a single window in a word what a compact service man!!!!!!!

7. Ubuntu is inspired with the tremendous success of i-Tunes and android Market for their dedicated users. And again add a change that is ubuntu Music Shop-----wow what an entry of Ubuntu 10.04 its becoming just stunning day by day. In this service you will be able to buy your favourite music and thanks to its file sync magic that gives you the chance to download it online and listen to your music while you are away from your own machine, means it could be listen from any ones computer provided he has got the internet connection. Softwares are: Ubuntu One Music Store and Rythmbox Music Player.

8. The next addition which is definitely inspired users and ubuntu has got the inspiration from none other than the same Big “M” - for Microsoft’s skyDrive which is available when a user got a live or hotmail account.

Here, Ubuntu users will get a nominal 2GB online space to store photos and edit them with some fantastic software like F-Spot. people can store their music to that account also. To do all this with the magical Ubuntu one have to create an ubuntu One Account where after free registration, a user can do anything he/she likes to do.

9. Ubuntu has got again another inspiration from Microsoft which is totally similar to Microsoft’s outlook mail Service where a user must have an outlook account and arrange all the mail in accordance with their own wish. Supported Software: Skype. And Included Software : Gwibber Microblogging.

10. Last but not the least Ubuntu has entered the most discussed and red hot issue of Cloud Computing. Each ubuntu One user will be given a sky of their own and the data (images, files documents etc.) will be represented as a cloud which represents the natural Sky and Cloud.


So we are watching that Ubuntu 10.04(Lucid Lynx) will be such a version ,added with some softwares and services which are innovated keeping the idea of Microsoft’s OS’s. It has got now each and every
Small damn thing what we do now in this 3G and 4G decades. Microblogging(twitter),social networking (Facebook, Orkut),Sharing pictures(Picasa, flickr, PhotoBucket), chatting(skype, evolution mail, pidgin Internet Messenger etc.), Listen to our favourite music and download them(Ubuntu One Music Shop) every service and privileges as given to users. now we can use an free linux based operating system in our computers without any hesitation or any kind of thinking of an lame excuse of getting out of the shadow of Windows. Ubuntu 10.10 is almost similar with the Ubuntu 10.04.

I have an advice as I have tried Ubuntu versions is that go for it order a free CD or download it and just take a look what is absent and compare with windows. What extra thing we need and do some help yourself by reaching to the open source community and make them know about the absent features. Try it; believe it won’t make you unhappy at the end of one digital day.
